Located in the remote waters of Pancer, Sumberagung Village in the Pesanggaran District of Banyuwangi, Bedil Island is rapidly emerging as one of the most captivating hidden marine paradises in East Java. Its untouched natural charm and strategic location have positioned it as a top destination for both nature lovers and adventure seekers.

Surrounded by clusters of exotic islets, Bedil Island offers breathtaking panoramic views. One of the island’s iconic viewpoints, Puncak Kemuning, has been affectionately nicknamed “Banyuwangi’s Raja Ampat” due to its similar scenic grandeur.

“Bedil Island has extraordinary potential. Here is a complete package, there is nature tourism, underwater, adventure, education, marine, culinary, and others. This kind of nature tourism destination continues to be developed in Banyuwangi,” said Banyuwangi Regent Ipuk Fiestiandani during her visit on Sunday, May 11, 2025.

The island’s sea waters exhibit a mesmerizing gradient of blue and green, creating a tranquil and inviting ambiance. Visitors can enjoy a variety of activities, including swimming in the calm lagoon, snorkeling to observe vibrant marine life, or simply relaxing while gazing out over the expansive Indian Ocean.

Regent Ipuk even dipped into the lagoon herself, saying, “I want to linger here. Come and enjoy the beauty directly.”

Getting to Bedil Island is an adventure in itself. Tourists must first travel approximately two hours by land from downtown Banyuwangi to Mustika Beach, Pancer. From there, a scenic boat ride lasting 15 to 20 minutes transports them to the island.

Bedil Island has become increasingly popular, especially during extended holidays like Waisak. Many domestic and international tourists have been captivated by its natural allure.

“The view is amazing, no less beautiful than Raja Ampat and Labuan Bajo,” shared Imelda, a tourist from Toledo, Ternate, who visited with her family.

Another visitor, Tommy Kurniawan from Surabaya, expressed his excitement: “Yesterday we finished at Ijen, and now we’re going to Bedil Island. From the mountains to the beaches, everything is cool! After here we plan to go to De Djawatan Forest.”

After a day filled with exploration and marine activities, tourists can head back to Mustika Beach to indulge in freshly cooked seafood. Several local eateries around the beach serve delicious and affordable seafood dishes, making it the perfect way to end a fulfilling day.

With its unspoiled charm, clear waters, and range of recreational activities, Bedil Island is more than just a destination—it’s a complete experience that blends adventure, relaxation, and nature appreciation. It stands out as a must-visit location in Banyuwangi for anyone looking to escape to a peaceful and scenic coastal haven.

Whether you’re seeking an immersive underwater experience, panoramic views from a hillside peak, or the taste of local culinary delights, Bedil Island delivers it all with authenticity and warmth. Add it to your itinerary and witness firsthand the enchanting marine beauty of East Java’s coastline.
